Thanks to you, 2023 was a year packed with La Vetian creativity!
Residents and guests enjoyed a variety of opportunities to successfully explore their creativity and enjoyed viewing the creative impulse in others. Events included: Learning to Play the Dulcimer; First Friday Summer Art Walks; leading the Fourth of July parade; sponsoring La Veta Writes, a monthly gathering for local writers; sponsoring a planter of flowers displayed on Main Street to help beautify the community; Painting classes at Mountain Merman Brewery; Art in the Park festival; Wreath-making class; Holiday Art Walk Fundraiser & La Veta’s Show Choir Caroling where residents and guests toured La Veta’s wonderful galleries and shops enjoying a sense of community, holiday festivity and feasting on an array of yummy desserts and hor’s d'oeuvres at every stop; the Community Holiday Bell Ringing Blessing where residents walked through town ringing bells and playing other instruments. The bell ringing was followed by a cozy gathering at The Parkside Art Gallery & Cafe where participants were replenished from the cold with delicious homemade soups and goodies.
LVCD also decorated and lit up La Veta for the holidays; sponsored a Youth Tree at the La Veta Public Library; provided music for residents at La Veta Village Assisted Living for Residents Rights Month; and covered repair costs for the piano at the La Veta Mercantile. We also sponsored a community table at the La Veta Farmer’s Market, where a variety of community resources were shared.
